Echoes (The Dolphin Prophecy Book 2) by Amy Evans

Echoes Synopsis:
Echoes are the sounds the universe makes when you ignore it the first time.

Instead of signs, they are sirens. Echoes are louder and more dangerous than Clicks.

All the twins on Pinhold Island are healthy again, but the summer is still upside down. Cami's been paying better attention to what hides beneath the surface on her seemingly idyllic home, trying to make sense of the new threats to her friends and family. Massive storms have come to Pinhold, flooding the Island in a way not seen in generations. They leave behind destruction and the Red Tide, which lends the Island an eerie glow, makes the air itch and people's eyes burn. Through it all, Cami and Blake are working hard to repair their relationship, Mica is attempting to trust the grown ups on island, Shay is worried she'll never swim again and everyone is tying to re-focus on the Surf Carnival and training for The Guard.

But the threats to Pinhold from the sky don't compare to the danger that still hides beneath the waves. Can Cami and The Guard find the cause in time to reset the pin, or will they suffer damages that can never be reversed?

EXCERPT

“I only want you. All of you Cami,” he said, gathering me to him and pressing my head against his chest.

I could feel his heart pound under my ear. It sounded strong, but I could feel the worry coming with every beat. He’d moved away from the jealousy that had fueled his drumming, and now he just hated every single second I spent with Kaleb in my thoughts. I could see inside him, the way the blood actually tripped up, choking into the sharp corners of his veins instead of flowing evenly.

“See what you do to me?” he asked, voice rough, strained. He was in my head and knew I understood. I felt gratitude for this level of connection, but the way that I could just know something so complicated that went way beyond what either one of us could explain.

“We were born for this,” I said, my voice was filled with awe. This connection went so far beyond the clicks I had with my friends, my dolphin, even Mica. At that moment, Blake could read my soul.

“Yessss,” he hissed. “That’s what I need. It makes me strong.” He brushed his lips against me, a kissper that hinted at more. I didn’t have a single brain cell left for anything but him and the promise of that kiss. My lips touched his almost reverently, slowly. Our connection was gossamer, and I imagined it disappearing if I pressed too hard too soon.

I looked at him, eyes wide; barely able to keep myself together with the way I shook in his arms. I wanted to hide a bit of myself from him, but I couldn’t. I had no place to go to pull away. My only option was to get closer, to give more. I  pushed away the fear, the layers of human protection my rational side  thought I needed, and let him in even more. I expected to lose pieces of myself, being that open, but instead I gained. Little bits of him attached magnetically, bonding to each cell, clicking into a place that fit him, and only him perfectly.

My ribs split open to let him in because there wasn't room for air. Every breath became a strain until I figured out that instead of oxygen,  I needed him. He nodded, and I put my mouth on his. It was like our first kiss all over again.

Tamed (Tangled #3) by Emma Chase

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: girl meets player, they fall in love, player changes his ways.

It’s a good story. But it’s not our story. Ours is a lot more colorful.

When I met Dee I knew right away that she was special. When she met me, she thought I was anything but special—I was exactly like every other guy who’d screwed her over and let her down. It took some time to convince her otherwise, but turns out I can make a convincing argument when sex is at stake.

You might know where this story’s headed. But the best part isn't where we ended up.

It’s how we got there.

TAMED goes back in time to the Tangled days. But this time around, it’s not Drew dishing out the advice and opinions—it’s his best friend Matthew, who of course is dealing with Dee Dee.

By day, Emma Chase is a devoted wife and mother of two who resides in a small, rural town in New Jersey. By night she is a keyboard crusader, toiling away the hours to bring her colorful characters and their endless antics to life. She has a long standing love/hate relationship with caffeine.

Emma is an avid reader. Before her children were born she was known to consume whole books in a single day. Writing has also always been a passion and with the 2013 release of her debut romantic comedy, Tangled, the ability to now call herself an author is nothing less than a dream come true.

Brandon Godbee resides in Houston, Texas with his family. After graduating from high school, Brandon’s creative spirit and love of singing drove him to major in music. ”What
would you like to tell everyone about you that they wouldn't already know from
reading your books?”

I was a vocal
performance major while going to college and wanted to be a teacher! Things
change!

Can
you tell us your latest news?

I am currently thinking of Renaming my
next book!

”When
were you first bitten by the writing bug?”

Three years ago I just sat down one day
and started writing. I could never explain it fully because I used to make Cs
in composition in College!

When
did you first consider yourself a writer?

I still don’t consider myself a writer
and I really don’t think anyone will ever convince me I am. I am telling a
story I have been given and once it’s done I plan on blowing a lot of people’s
minds!

What
inspired you to write your first book?

I don’t really know. I sat down one day
and started writing a story I didn’t quite understand and until four months ago
I didn’t know how it ended but now I wish I could squeeze my head out into a
book so I can get it out!

Do
you have a specific writing style?

Block things out first, and sprinkle
your characters in and let them act the way they do! There have been sometimes
I REALLY wanted a chapter to move one direction but when my characters were
placed in the book took a beautiful turn!

How
did you come up with the title?

My title doesn’t mean what you think.
Angel Omega really means “The Last Angel” but I had to make it all fancy!

“what
do you want your readers to get out of your novels?”

“Sometimes the soul you save might be
your very own.”

“Children do not choose their parents;
they simply learn from them and choose to be more.”

No matter who you are, or where you’re
born you can choose to be more than you are or more than you are condemned to
be.

“Is
the book mostly fantasy or do you think these situations could actually
happen?”

Well if half the stuff happens in the
books to come I REALLY hope its fantasy!

Now
I love music just as much as reading, I normally listen to music while I am
reading. Do you think that you characters have theme songs? What would they be?

To many characters to list… but one I
know Damien: Daughtry’s Undefeated

“Are
the experiences fact based or from your imagination?”

I can see my angels in my head every
time I close my eyes so they all exist in my imagination… or at least I hope.

What
are your current projects?

Angel Omega Shattered Soul (Book 2)

 Do
you see writing as a career?

Currently I am making no money off of
it but I can really hope I could write for a living because getting lost in my
imagination is awesome!

If
you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?

Nope… well I’d make Damien a little
more of a smart ass!

Can
you share a little of your current work with us?  Is there anything you
find particularly challenging in your writing?

Book two will end in Anger, Tears, and
Sorrow and there is only one soul on this earth who knows what happens at the
end of book 2 and I will never say her name! Finding the time to write!

Who
designed the covers?

It was an image taken from three
different pictures and combined into one.

What
was the hardest part of writing your book?

Understanding that I was going to take
the most notorious character in every horror movie ever created and turn him
into a good guy… and make it Believable!

“What
did you learn from writing your book?”

That messing around with people’s
favorite characters is always makes you want to look over your shoulder!

Do
you have any advice for other writers?

Block things out, Know where you’re
going with the story, never lose that direction, Make each character in your
story unique in their own special way (and don’t deviate from that!), Don’t be
afraid to (Shock, Disgust, or Anger) your readers. Find one character in the
book and mirror your personality onto them so you can feel like part of the
story!

 Do
you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

That they are the reason I do this,
they are the reason I click on reviews and smile every day, that they are the
reason I spent all of my savings and went into debt a little to make a story
unlike any other! You guys are all so awesome!
J

Which
comes first? The character's story, or, the idea for the novel?

That’s like the chicken or the egg. For
me my story came first and then my character’s manifested themselves from it!

What
advice do you have for someone who would like to become a published writer?

You will be rejected, you will be told
no, you will cry in your sleep, but don’t you EVER give up! Always see any
criticism as a person trying to make your story better. Always be humble and
gracious! And thank EVERYONE YOU CAN!

Is
there anything else that you would like to add?

Can I get some fries with that?

I
just want to say thank you so much for taking the time to answer these for my
readers and I. I look forward to seeing more work from you in the future.

Excerpt from the Book

CHAPTER 1

The Wyatts had struggled for months to conceive a child. It was something they had dreamed of since they first met: a home, a family…to be happy. Happiness gave way to worry after six months of trying without success.

Sarah Wyatt had visited a fertility clinic with her husband three months earlier; after much deliberation and a few fights, the Wyatts agreed to go to the clinic again.

Jason Wyatt looked up at the doctor through hazel eyes this time and spoke, concern and worry in his voice. “But doctor, it’s been six months of trying. Pardon us if we are both worried that something may be wrong.” Jason was a very healthy man in his early thirties; he loved to go to the gym and always kept a very clean look about himself. His fair complected skin never hid when he was worried or embarrassed.

The doctor calmly replied, “You’re a couple in your late twenties and early thirties. These things take time for people your age—you’re not as young as you used to be. Come back to me in two months if nothing happens. I will look into prescribing some light fertility drugs for Sarah then.”

As her feelings of regret faded away, Sarah smiled. She looked over at her husband through brown eyes, her long hair falling softly over her light brown skin. Sarah was such a carefree soul; her one hope in life was to have a child. “See, Jason? There’re always options!”

“Wait…Don’t those drugs have that off chance of us having six or seven kids at once?!” A tremble resonated in Jason’s voice.

“That’s only a random occurrence in patients about fifteen percent of the time. Sarah is almost thirty; her body will probably only produce two to four eggs at most with a light dose of the drug.” The doctor grinned.

Jason and Sarah walked out of the doctor’s office and headed to their car, Jason still holding onto his wife. He was not any more at ease after what the doctor had just said about the “light” fertility drugs.

“You know I always wanted a big family,” Sarah said as she smiled and rubbed her husband’s chest.

Jason laughed. “Hon, do you really want that many kids? All at once? That’s going to be really hard on us, trying to take care of all of them. I mean, I don’t like the idea of changing one baby’s diaper, let alone four!” He sounded worried.

Sarah broke free from her husband’s light grasp and walked in a rush to the car, crossing her arms and wearing her emotions on her face.

“Honey!! Wait! I didn't mean it like that!” Jason ran to catch up to her. “Let’s just go home. I don’t want to have an argument with you…Just take me home, Jason!” Her low voice held back her feelings.

After a long, quiet ride home, Jason and his wife pulled into the driveway of their small two-story home. Sarah looked out at the neighbors, who were playing with their children in the front yard. She continued to watch with a longing she didn't think anyone understood. I want my own child.

By the time Jason spoke, his throat had gone dry. “You know…We can keep trying. We can keep using that fertility time of the month thing. I just don’t know if drugs are the…” Jason’s eyes focused in on the reflection of his now-crying wife, tears streaming down her face as she clasped the door handle tightly.

Still looking at the family down the road playing in the front yard, Sarah touched the glass, muttering through a shaking voice, “I just want …” She was not able to finish her sentence, though. She opened the door and dashed for the front door of their home, sobbing as she ran.

Jason quickly followed, trying to catch up to his heartbroken wife. “Honey! WAIT!”

Sarah threw herself on the bed in their bedroom, sobbing, her heart breaking into pieces. She clasped her pillow tightly as Jason followed her into the room. Unsure of what to say to offer her comfort, he sat down on his end of the bed and listened to her sob. With desperation in his voice, he said the only thing he could think of saying. “Sarah, I love you—”

She looked up from her pillow. Her sobbing had stopped, and her eyes looked at him not with love and endearment but with rage. Her voice once again came out low as, still shaking from her previous crying, she repeated his phrase. “You love me? YOU LOVE ME?! Jason, do you think just saying that is going to make things better? That I’m going to forget everything you said back there at the doctor’s office?!” She was so angry, so confused, that she was panting. She sat up and glared at her husband. “We talked about this since the day we met! It’s something we've wanted all our lives…A normal family, Jason—A NORMAL FAMILY! We have a chance to have that family and you…you throw it back in my face, not wanting it!?”

As Jason looked down at his sobbing wife, all his anger and rage melted away. He watched the woman he loved in so much pain, knowing he’d caused it. Feeling worthless and completely helpless, he sat down at their piano and started to play a soft, beautiful song.

Sarah looked up from her pillow, sniffling. “That’s not going to work, Jason. I’m still mad at you!”

In a soft, unsteady voice, Jason began to sing to his wife. “No more talk of darkness,/ forget these wide eyed fears/I’m here, nothing can harm you/my words will warm and calm you.” He looked over at his wife with a soft smile. Her eyes were on him, her rage fading and her tears receding. “Let me be your freedom,/let daylight dry your tears./I’m here with you, beside you/to guard you and to guide you.”
